Hi, Inkscape works on a Mac just fine. What vs of the MAC OS are you using? I used it on Snow Leopard 10.5.and there is a version for Tiger.

You will also need to download and install a program called X-11.

If you have problems finding the correct version let me know which Mac OS you are using and I'll find the link for you.

Not sure I understand.

Once you install Inkscape it is in your applications folder. If you have installed X11 you should be able to just double click on the Inkscape icon in application and it should open.

Tell me what's happening as exactly as you can. Pix too if you can capture the screen.

For others here is a link where you can find all of the Inkscape vs to download for Mac OSX

I would install X11 first, then run it. it should work fine - you will only know if you get no error messages as it's almost a background app - you do/should get a icon on your dock.
I use XQuartz instead of X11 but it's the same principle.

then shut down X11 and install inkscape. once it's installed just go to your application folder, find the inkscape icon and double click just the same as any app - it may take a little while as inkscape should also start X11 running.
once it's running you are ready to start playing in inkscape.

Inkscape did not save to my applications it saved to my downloads but it saved the snow leopard version which I only have Leopard. when I click it on though it says
Inkscape is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it then when I click on open nothing happens. I can not seem to figure out screen shots either. The other thing is my Version is 10.6.8 and the x-11 says you need OS X version 10.7 but my system says I have the most recent version when I go to updates. I hate to bother you and appreciate your help. I have not used SCAL for a while but when I did the last time, I also was able to use Inkscape.

no that did not work the same thing is happening because I actually think I do have snow leopard still installed my version is 10.6.8 so I uninstalled Leopard again and reinstalled the snowl eopard. I never had a problem before but as I said if I click on X11 it says I have to have version 10.8 but my computer has no updates
