Ok, I bought SCAl a couple of months ago and could never figure it out. I got so frustrated that I put everything away and refused to even look at it. Well, I really want to be able to use SCAL. I just have no idea how. I've tried the tutorials and it's over my head. I downloaded a few of the svg files here and tried to import but nothing appears. What is going wrong. I do have Inkscape but have no idea why I have it as I don't know how to do anything!!!
Can someone please help?

Re: Need help!
I don't know why the svg files did not appear. Most of the files here should work with SCAL. I have attached a link for some photo corners I created and I know they work in SCAL.

Click on the file; save it; open SCAL; import the svg file.
Then use the lower right arrow to make it larger, if necessary. Then cut.

I tried your photo corners and they did not cut out. I opened them, they showed actual photo corners, I set it to cut and it started to cut. It didnot cut photo corners though. It just made line cuts. What am I doing wrong??
Re: Need help!
OK, I have tons of svg files that I correctly import and either they don't show up at all or when I cut them, they don't cut properly. What is going on?

Do you have the Blade holder in the Cricut correctly? Can you cut with cartridges? You should have at least one cart which came with the Cricut...try to cut with that. Do you have the full version or the trial version of SCAL?
I had a problem at one time with slashes thru my cuts and I had to install the original version of DSS and do a firmware update from that.
Check with Todd at Craft Edge and maybe he can give you more advice

Re: Need help!
Have you tried cutting any letters with SCAL? I would try that first before importing files or messing with Inkscape. Just type something on the cutting mat and tell it to cut. Does that part work properly?
Re: Need help!
Yes, I can cut letters through SCAL by typing in the box and hitting cut.
