problem with SCAL

Post by has2tri »

I have been happily cutting away with my cricut and SCAL 2. have NOT updated for obvious reasons. Managed to get everything onto new laptop when computer crashed and lost everything :(

was cutting away on laptop after much help from SCAL support but then NOOOOO!!!!! I went to cut some files this morning all that is happening is the blade moves to the oposite side of the paper in a diagonal line (not cutting) then doing a continuous dotting.

I am heart broken.

Does anyone know why and how this can be rectified to get my cutting back.

TIA

Just some basic questions.

1. Have you tried cutting with just a cartridge in your machine to make sure it isn't the machine?
2. Have you tried to cut a different file from within SCAL to make sure there isn't a problem with the file itself?
3. Have you tried shutting everything down and restarting your computer and machine?

I would start there and then report back.

Shell, you say you haven't updated SCAL for obvious reasons. May ask which version you are using and to confirm that you are using a Cricut? Depending on the firmware of the Cricut you can update your SCAL2 to vs 2.044 and be ok. Check out support for vs of Cricut firmware you can use.

Here is a link to the firmware requirements for SCAL2 and Cricut. It may be old but you can start here.

Now to Lori Whitlock svg's. I could only find one that was free but i downloaded it and it looks fine on my ecal and my SCAL2.043 if that is any help to you.

Hope you figure it out as she has some very nice files for sale.

If you purchased one your most likely help will come from Lori.

So I think I am hearing other files are cutting fine, just not the one you were trying to cut?

Yes other files are cutting fine. Cannot seem to cut file I purchased from Lori Whitlock or one purchased from Jessica Sprague.

I have files from treasure Box designs and they cut fine,
