SCAL2 and Cricut/Gypsy updates

I want to update my Gypsy for the new Artiste cart I just bought. Looking at the message boards, I get mixed information about if my SCAL2 will work with the newest (2.43, I think) Cricut firmware. Last time I updated my Gypsy a year ago I did not have to do any updating with the Cricut, but now it sounds like I HAVE to update the Cricut if I update the Gypsy. Anyone have the latest info on this issue?

I LOVE SCAL2, and it is more important to have that than for me to access the new cart on the Gypsy.

I did see that article, but it is from November 2011- almost a year ago. I was wondering if there was any new information.

Leo, from SVG Cuts, wrote that article. I wonder if he would know any more info. You could email him at info@svgcuts.com and just ask him if he thinks it is still valid, or if he thinks that the information is outdated and that things are different now. Maybe he'd even take the time to test is out like he did then? It's worth a try.
