hey guys - something I thought of, what if CraftEdge is not saying anything purposefully to keep things quiet from competitors. Don't you thing competitors read this forum? I wouldn't want a competitor reading what I'm working on before I'm ready for everyone to know. This is a public forum open to everybody and anybody. If ideas were submitted here, don't you think it'd fall into the wrong hands somewhere?
So, from that perspective, what would you want Todd to say on a publicly accessed forum?
I'm sorry but...

"Sorry for the delay, but I'm working on it"
"Hey guys, I'm still here working away"
"It's not easy but I'm doing everything I can to get this fixed"
"I've made some progress but we're not out of the woods yet"
"I haven't been able to figure out a fix yet but I'm trying"
"I haven't given up on the update and hope you all haven't either"
anything along those lines would work for me.

Re: I'm sorry but...
again, I'm in his corner on this and LOVE this software... but at this point I'm just wondering if my time waiting for a fix is for not.
Todd, if you're reading this you have my support 100%!! Even if you can't figure it out and have not made one ounce of progress... I understand, it's not easy and I'm not suggesting you should have been prepared for this - at all! Again I'm more annoyed w/Provo (although their reasons are somewhat understandable, I'm still annoyed w/them.)
BTW - I am running both with the current solution but my E slices up my paper w/ v.2.1 so this is not an ideal solution for me personally.

Re: I'm sorry but...
I think the silence might have something to do with the fact that ProvoCraft is going to be releasing another update soon. Just in today's Chirp newsletter they mentioned the upcoming "big" update. It's my guess and it's a total guess, is that Todd is waiting to see the next update and then will give us a fix. Rumors are the "big" update is coming out sometime in September. I will give Todd the benefit of the doubt for now, he is not going to play his hand until DS is done with updates.

Yes...I was just referring to what I invested tons of money in before I got a Cricut

Re: I'm sorry but...
I don't care if we never hear from Todd again, but in a good way. I love SCAL and would have paid for it even if I knew the blockage would occur (well, as long as I knew of the work-around!). Just the fact that we've got so many options with it is a great thing.
I've had to purchase several programs over again because of a new release (as opposed to an update). MasterCook is a perfect example. They don't offer updates. It's a whole new version with new features. So, there goes $25-30 every two years. I can't help myself. I have to have the latest.
The worst is the embroidery software! Retail is around $1500 for a full package for home use (professional is $10K and up). You can get it for $1000-1200 or just by the individual pieces at $150-400 a crack. I did manage to tame myself when the new Pfaff software came out and just bought the basic package and kept my old full package.
*** Perhaps PC & Todd are joining forces and the big update is a combination of the programs (I love the DSS ability to have separate pages for colors, sizes, etc). I'm on pins & needles (literally).

Todd's definitely still around. I got an very quick response to an email I sent him requesting a second activation code so I could load SCAL onto a 2nd computer.
Duh you can use the same code twice apparently. Learnt something new.

Re: I'm sorry but...
This is what I have been reading.....
Provo is determined to block SCAL - Period.....
If you want their updates you will not be able to use SCAL....
I have heard that they have even gone so far to hire a new software developer....
There is a cutting machine out there that everyone knows that gets RAVE reviews... they are making their software compatable and testing it on the Cricut.... so what that means is that once they are done working out the kinks.. you can purchase this other software and it will let you cut straight to the Cricut......
And there will be no need for a middle program... so there will be no need to use inkscape...this program has all the bells and whistles... you can design, weld, mat, even auto trace straight from this one program....
It uses a well know extension - so all the stores and such that sell cutter files will have a ton of these files available AND there are 1000's of free files in this format already out there on the web.....
BUT here is the issue - I don't know when it is going to be released. They thought they were almost ready and then they found a glitch - so they are working on that now.... (at least that is what I am being told).
This company has really good customer service but they have been known to push back release dates to make sure that the software is 110% compatible before it is released!!!
Maybe thats what they have up their sleeve??
All I know is I love my SCAL and I could care less about DS

Re: I'm sorry but...
That sure sounds interesting. If I understand what you are saying we can expect some new software that will work on the Cricut machine.
I don't have a lot of use for DSS and I don't think I will be investing in any other carts so SCAL is fine for me at this point. It would be great to have cutter software that will allow you to cut only certain parts so you don't have to do the separation in INK.
