I need to speak to someone who uses a uscutter mh721

Post by MIMZEE »

Hi, after much fafing around i have got a 28'' us cutter, I know it works as i have done some test cuts ,
the darn thing was going at ''the speed of light'' !! and throwing
the 'sample' pieces of vinyl i was testing on across the room !!!!......
So today .... Deep Breath ..... i have found out how to slow the beast

went into my 'DEMO' version os SCAL 3 which is all working with the 'beast'.
I have planned my virtual mat and measured some paper i have (16'' x 11'') to test on . i also typed

TL TR

BL BR

Like this so I know what way up is screen / paper .. i go to cut it and the machine scrolls
backwards/ forwards/ like its looking for the size ,
then registers it in its head and cuts off the edge of the blooming paper ...
Getting a bit fed up now
Has anyone had this problem on their machine and managed to sort it ????
Thanxs

I have the MH871 the larger one. What are you using for a mat? and how much after you cutting area is left ?
I see you typed that you are doing a item 16" x11" depending on which is the length of your project you'll want to measure at least 2" longer so it has something to stay under the preasure wheels other wise it will fly out for some thing of that size you could use one of the old cricut 24" x12" mats or any other mat or no mat at all for vinyl but have at least 2 " longer what you can do is remove the blade holder and cut the vynil longer and do a test cut then get the feel of how much you need. I usually leave mine on the roll if using vynil but if using mat and paper always make sure the mat is longer than you cut. or you'll get fly mats.

Hi, thanxs for getting back to me -
I was using vinyl for testing on , but was wasting so much so i thought i would just try some a3 paper to run through it - im just not sure whch way round the screen mat is in relation to the cutter -
When i used my cricut i had to remember that the far left of the on screen mat was actually the top edge of the mat that i fed into the cricut !!
Ive just watched a video of a cutter on youtube and looking at that ...does it mean i should feed extra vinyl in the machine and like you suggest take the blade out .... I will try that - at the minute the biggest piece of vinyl i have is 24'' x by 1 metre so i will defo take your advice a nd take out the blade - i shall return !! LOL

There are not may videos out there for the use of the MH cutters and scal. It does take a little playing around to get used to how it works but I am versed in the MH and scal-and Make the cut. Enjoy cutting.

Grab some of that el cheapo vinyl shelf paper and cut that. Think you can find it for around $3 for a big roll.
