Please help with this SVG file

Post by hhalliburton »

After going through everything I have, I guess I only have V.1 It has been a long time since I've been able to do anything with my Cricut with paper.
Anyway, I found the perfect file to make my daughter's birthday invitations

http://inlovewithabug.blogspot.com/2011 ... -card.html

but to be honest I don't know how to make the background/shadow effect. Could someone please help me on how to do it? I'm running out of time and REALLY need to get these done and she loves the file.

Thank you,
Heidi

Hi Sweetness4713,

I knew that and had downloaded the file, the problem I was having was I couldn't get the background / shadow effect and wasn't sure what to do to get it. Thank fully DogCarbon came to my rescue and helped me out.

Ahh okay sorry.. I misread.. Anytime you want to do a shadow option you can duplicate the image and then hit ctrl+) the ctrl and the parenthesis that I showed you altogether on the duplicated image and it makes it like a shadow.. hit it as many times as you like until you reach the desired shadow size..

Is that option available in Version 1? The OP only have V1

I was thinking the shadow option became available in Version 2, but I could be wrong.

I never really pay attention to the things SCAL can do, because I have taught myself Inkscape and think Inkscape is just a tad more percise, and I am anal like that.

Either way, the file was available, just not the shadow/mat was not part of the available file.

Ok, now I have a stupid question, (sorry)

I have both files but how much larger typically do you make the shadow for lettering? Right now the files I have are both 3" should I have the shadow sized at maybe 3.5"?

Thanks again for any help.

Of the two files I sent you, the shadow should be 3.5 W x 3.75 H, and the text 3.322 W x 3.575H
