After a very LONG day of trying to get my computer, SCAL, and cricut to communicate (Success 8 hours later), I am eager to start using SCAL. I have downloaded Inkspace with no problem, but am overwhelmed with how to use it. Can anyone tell me if there is a tutorial out there, one with simple directions and easy to follow? I am not even sure of all its capabilities, but everyone seems to be raving about it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: need help with inkspace!
I'm a little reluctant to do this but....Inkscape is not a user friendly program, so powerful that unless you are familiar with vector graphics programs in general you will spend another long time being frustrated.
There are so many wonderful scut (SCAL) designs on this board for you to get familiar with SCAL and be successful that I'd really encourage you to master SCAL first before tackling Inkscape. You can even use Inkscape files (.svg) posted on this MB to look at in Inkscape and import into SCAL. You will find tha not all Inkscape files CUT properly, you must be able to discern whether your effort in Inkscape has resulted in a file that you can cut with SCAL and Cricut. Using files you find here will lead you in the right direction along with all of the q's and a's you will also find. I spent almost more time reading the MB than I did cutting after the first bloom of cutting everything I could get my hands on wore off.
There are tutorial sections for both SCAL and Inkscape on this board and many, many folk who will answer your questions. I welcome you to our community and wish you many hours of creativity.
Just my two cents worth.

I would be happy to help you with an SVG file that I have posted so that you can cut it.

Re: need help with inkspace!
Susanbluerobot has some tutorials on her blog
http://susanbluerobot.blogspot.com/
And Sandy McCauley just did 2 or 3 videos on how to make flourishes in the newest version of inkscape.
It's on her blog.
http://www.sandymccauley.blogspot.com/
She wrote it for KNK users, but the process is the same except for saving the file in the correct format for SCAL.
Have Fun!!

Re: need help with inkspace!
thanks everyone for your advice. I haven't had a chance to play with it since I installed it; I had to work over the week end. Hoping to play around with it this week. This is a great forum space!
