Font Manager ?

Post by zellko »

Anybody with Font Manger? Got it for Xmas. How can I store/view fonts without having them actually installed? Thanks

I just save mine to a jump drive memory stick...not install on computer...then I can open them temporarily in scal to use just for the project that I am making...once scal is closed the font is gone for use, until reloaded using...see attachment
Click on the button on the far right under fonts in the properties panel, and then go to the memory stick drive and find the font you want to use in the project.

I put all my fonts and dingbats into a folder I labeled "My Font Folder" catergorized as Children fonts, Christmas, Dingbats, Scrapping fonts, and on. I open this folder on my desktop, then I open AMP Font Viewer which I downloaded off of the web free and it works so slick....you can view fonts under the category that you have installed fonts and also the category of uninstalled fonts. It lets you type out the words, etc that you want to check out and then you can view by clicking on each font and it changes the words to that font...you can scrolll thru them all and watch your words change to each font until you decide which one you want. It also has a button to temporarily install but I never use that as I just open and use and then close them. Then back in the font folder you click on that font you want and it will open up to view. Then in SCAL2 I go to choose my font and its ready to use. If you have SCAL2 open before you do this process you will need to "refresh" your SCAl2 which is the circled arrow under the font selector. That should update it. If SCAL2 wasn't open, you open SCAL2 and it should be there already. When you are done, just close out your font choice in your folder and move on. It works so easy and it is so handy for me this way. HTH!
