Hi all
I am not sure how many of you are following the Cricut message board, but for those who aren't recently there was a swap for people to make word books of certain words and then the .cut files were posted for everyone.
Take a look at these two links and maybe you might get some ideas if you are at a blank for a word book - you don't have to use the .cut file - you can always make it in SCAL but just get some inspiration for a layout like I did.

Thanks to all those who made the books and the swap and for sharing it.

Re: Word Book ideas
WOW Raewyn, what a great idea they have to post the files! No cost involved for mailing. Now THAT is using technology!
Could I put a 'bug' (cricut
) in your ear to see if you would think about hosting a swap here in SCAL? I know I would participate fer sure!!
Please consider it? Or ANYone... I think this would be a great idea to do themes like this in here.

Marly I am not sure if SCAL would work as well as the DS did due to it not having the multiple sheets to put each letter on.Marly wrote:

But if someone can think of a way of putting together a scut file that could be shared then I would be happy to host something.

Re: Word Book ideas
I can't seem to open the files! It wants to open in notepad but when it opens it's just a bunch of jibberish! Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Word Book ideas
If you got them from the Cricut.com site, you have to change the file extension to .cut before you can try to open them. They save them as .txt so that they can attach them. It was the only way people could find for attaching .cut files in the forum instead of sending people to a download site.kelsie94 wrote:I can't seem to open the files! So if you change the extension, you should be good.

Re: Word Book ideas
The only way I can think of doing it is through Inkscape, but even that's not really easy. Like you said, part of the ease was due to being able to see the multiple mats within the preview. I wonder if the layers in Inkscape would sort of work at least for the designing part? You can turn specific layers on and off, lock and unlock them. So, for example, if you knew where you wanted the L and E of LOVE to be, you could place them and lock the layers, then space the O and V as you see fit. You'd end up having to save the pieces separately for import to SCAL but it could be done. Not as easy as DS (for once), but I think it could be done.raewyn64 wrote:Marly I am not sure if SCAL would work as well as the DS did due to it not having the multiple sheets to put each letter on.

Can I cut these word books if I don't have Design Studio? I have SCAL and do not want to be changing the firmware back and forth
