I had the same question and what I got from SCAL is that you can put it on as many computers as you like as long as you stay within your IP address. We tried it and it works.

I second the motion for an external hard drive. They are in many cases cheaper than an internal drive. Best thing about it is when a hurricane or other disaster comes, you can snatch your external drive and run for your life. It would be a bummer to loose that many images.
