have you seen the talk over on the cricut board about the possible release of some new carts?? here is a link to a blog that shows the possible fonts (seems the thead over there with the pictures was deleted, so someone posted this link)
http://just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com/
But I'm thinking, heck, I can cut those fonts with my SCAL!! No need to purchase another cart!!! Oh how I love my SCAL!!!

Yeah
if you go to the Hallmark site you will see some of their new cartridges
They are selling them for thirty five bucks
Two things come to my mind
there angry about sure cuts a lot and are trying to do something about it to sell more cartridges and if you buy one of those new cartrtidges, will you have to update your firmware and will that do something to make sure cuts alot not work.
They are not worth it if you have sure cuts a lot.

Those cartridges are not the full version that's why they are way cheaper. They don't have all the extra features like you see on the left-hand side of the overlay (like shadow/blackout, etc)

They're called the Solutions carts...they only come with the keyboard overlay and the cart, no hard box for storage or user manual.

There is an update for CDS to add the carts into the software's library, and a few have had cutting issues with SCAL after doing the download but not everyone.

This is the sort of thing that makes me mad - get people into buying the carts at a ridiculous price then start making carts at a lower price ( gosh aren't we generous) but with less options so really in proportion you are spending the same as before. SCAL is an excellent option even if you only want to cut fonts. For slightly more than the price of one cartridge you can do so many different things with your machine. PC really should be so grateful to CraftEdge for bringing out a program that makes the Cricut such a versatile machine.
A personal gripe is : if you want the machine to sell and be successful worldwide why make cartridges full of sayings in English and such obviously US orientated graphics: what good is that for the extra US or non English speaking markets. Here again SCAL comes into its own - I can make my titles in any language I want thus making the Cricut a very attractive machine.
moan over .. :( but if dim little old me who doesn't have a degree in business or marketing can see that why can't they?
Susibi :D
