Can images saved in pdf be converted to svg files?

I downloaded some images from a coloring pages site and i need to convert to svg to work on them. Is this possible?
If they are a layered pdf file you should be able to open them in Inkscape and they are already svg's. Just take them apart and put htem on the mat where you want them. If they are not you need to make it the long way to svg's.
