How Do I Fix This?

I have a file which is an image of a clip board. When i open it in inkscape and view it as an outline, there are 2 holes in the top (where the clipboard is supposed to hang). Obviously, i only want the one hole in the middle. How can i get rid of the second attached hole?

Here ya go.. It involved deleting some nodes...

Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate you doing that for me!
Can you please tell me how to go about removing nodes? I'm an inkscape newbie and i've only gotten as far as ungrouping layers. I'd love to be able to manipulate or change images but don't know how.

BTW, is it possible to weld in inkscape so that it welds in scal2?

You are so welcome.. To delete nodes what you do is Click on the node tool down the left hand side of your inkscape menu.. and then click on each one so it turns blue and then hit the minus sign on the top tool bar.. or you can hold your shift button and click on more than one.. and then hit the minus sign...
As for weld what I normally do if I want two things joined is click the two items I want joined by holding shift again and then click path and union...Some others do it different.

If i want to weld together parts of an image, i'm guessing Path-Union will do it?
