Craft Edge

My Inkscape program (version 0.46) just stopped working! I have a Mac, I click on Inkscape to open it, the light under the icon in the dock comes on, X-11 opens, but inkscape never does. It has worked before.

I went to the inkscape website and see they will be releasing version 0.47 soon, but what should I do in the meantime?

Wish I could help, but all I can do is offer consolation. Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago and I spent days troubleshooting but was never able to solve the problem. Finally loaded the latest pre-release version of .47, but it doesn't want to play nice with SCAL, so I am hit and miss at this point. Think Papasue has had the same problem but is having better luck with later release of .47 (which is almost ready for full release anyway) so you might go ahead and try that.

I'll have to wait a bit - their website says they're still working out bugs.

I would go ahead and load the latest release, if you want. Even the one I downloaded 2 months ago was flawless to my eye. They debug these things to death before they bless an official release, unlike, say, a Microsoft product or SCAL.

I think if you go here you can download any version of Ink that you want. http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/

Just an update -
I went to update to the latest inkscape for my mac, and they wanted me to update my X11.
I went to update the X11, but they wanted me to upgrade my operating system.

So I updated my operating system, and my X11, and downloaded the inkscape. No luck.

My husband is researching it, and so far he's found out that it's some kind of problem with fonts!!

I think he's going to put in a trouble ticket with inkscape and see if they can help us figure it out . . .
