Help with inkscape

I have a pdf file that I opened into inkscape. When I go to trace it, nothing shows up in the trace bitmap preview window. So I close out of that window and then save the pdf. as a svg. But when I go to cut it in socal it cuts really messy, almost like the blade is really dull, but it isn't. Can someone tell me why my pdf file won't show of in the trace bitmap preview window. And also why my cuts are really messy. I have opened up other pdf files in the trace bitmap preview window woth no problem but now I'm having trouble. Thanks for help in advance

It sounds like you have a vector pdf. Ink won't trace something that is already a vector. You will need to select just the parts that you want to cut and create a clean file for cutting. I have a post on this here.

Also, some vectors aren't made for cutters and have open lines. SCAL will connect the ends of open lines. Watch for those and connect them using the node tools. HTH

I followed your tutorial saved my image as a svg. But know I have double lines when I go to trace my image my image still won't show up in the preview. I was following Scrappydew.com tutorial on getting rid of double lines but can't trace my image to get rid of the double lines what can I do?

Inkscape won't trace a vector. Can you post a link to the PDF you are trying to use?
