Ungrouping and layering

I made some wordart in Inkscape and now would like to separate the colors into layers in SCAL. Is there any way to do that, either by layers or separating onto individual pages? I've tried going to UNGROUP but it doesn't work.

The best way is to create layers in Inkscape. I have a tut on my blog for using layered svg files in SCAL 2.0
here. Later today I should have a new blog post with a tutorial on making layers in Inkscape. HTH

Thanks. I went back to Inkscape and divided it into layers. Imported back into SCAL2 and it divided perfectly.

I added the Inkscape tut
here. Please let me know if I am unclear on anything in the post.

Thanks for the tutorial for the inkscape layers. I couldn't figure what I was doing wrong and why some of my items ended up on the same layer when I didn't want them to. I realized I had to keep moving the item up a layer until it was on the layer I wanted.
This makes working with the new SCAL so much easier.
