Image doesn't look the same in SCAL as in Inkscape

I'm guessing that I'm missing a step somewhere along the line...I'm trying to import the SVG I made in Inkscape (shown on the right) over to SCAL, but the letters aren't in the same position when I do so as shown in the screen shot on the left. Can anyone help me out?

I got it to work! I think I needed to select Union from the Path menu.

The usual culprit is groups. SCAL doesn't like groups so yes, union or combine instead or just leave separate.
