Sorry, I posted this in turtorial by mistake:

Hi there!

My question is this:

I have an and in inkscape it is a sliver of a smile (think the letter c). It looks fine in outline mode and also in scal. However, when it cuts on the cricut it is creating a cut for a wide mouth smile (like the letter d). Is there something I should be doing in Inscape? I have tried union (gets rid of the smile), combine, exclude... what am I doing wrong?

Is your smile a closed shape or is it a line? SCAL will add lines to open shapes to close them. If you want to post the file someone will take a look at it. HTH

I will take a look at your video, thank you!

The smile is a line. It is the monkey from the New Arrivals cart. Let me see if I can post....

Here is an example on this blog http://leighslittleblog.blogspot.com/20 ... iness.html

She talks about how she made the Monkey using the George cart. If you have the image in scal, then that smile will not cut as just a line? Is there a way to fix that?

Thank you so much for your help. I can't post my scal image because I have to upload it to the server and I don't have access to it at the moment.

The easiest way is to select the smile, then Path/Stroke to path. SCAL will cut the outline of your smile, so you can control the size by changing the stoke width before you use Stroke to path. HTH

Thank you so much for the information. I will give them a try tonight and see how it works out. As much as I am figureing out Inkscape I really need to go through the tutorials so I don't develop bad habits.
