Craft Edge

Okay... I need help with the word book I am trying to create. How do I determine the spacing, I can't seem to get it right. Also, how do I make the shadow that others have done to go with the word book. I have been working TEACHER for about two hours and can't seem to go anyway. I have watched Dan's tutorial and just can't seem to get it right. Is there another good tutorial out there anyone can recommend?
