Learn all about Inkscape

Hello cutters! When I first started using Inkscape I had no idea what a cricut cutter was; however, now, not knowing would be impossible because I get emails from cutters almost every day now. I actually had to Google "Cricut" the first time I received one of these.

Anyway, the reason for my post is to let anyone know who is interested that I have created a site that is dedicated to teaching open source design, and since Inkscape is open source, it is the main thing I teach.

As of today, I have 21 inkscape video tutorials online for your viewing enjoyment, free to watch at your leisure. http://www.learndigitaldesign.com

Benjamin,
Welcome to the forum! Many of us are already familiar with your tutorials. I maintain a master list of cricut-related video tutorials and several of yours (like tracing the chicken one) are already listed.

We spend a lot of time around here trying to help people around the quirks in Inkscape (like mysteriously changing defaults, square circles, etc.) and the quirks in SCAL, but think it is worth it for the amazing things we can do with our Cricuts.
Since you are fielding the cutting questions, too, it'll be good for you to get up to speed on what the SCAL idiosynchrasies are. We look forward to your valued Inkscape input and thanks for the great files already, too!
Kay

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!!! I just downloaded Inkscape and am trying to figure it out. I watch the tutorials and read the tutorials and my attempts never seems to go like they should. I can use any help given! Thanks!

Welcome Benjamin!

I give credit to you every time someone asks how I know so much in such a short time - I send them right to your website.

Thanks for the great tutorials.

Wow!

Firstcut, Toaster, Lora, kelsie, what a warm welcome! I have never seen such a warm welcoming group of people who want to help each other in my whole life. I look forward to helping anyone out with Inkscape. I am not myself a cutter (yet), but I am more and more leaning towards going out and buying one and adding a section on my own site with tutorials just for cutters. There are so many ideas that I have though, and unfortunately only 24 hours in a day!

Thanks again for the welcome and kind words. Oh and firstcut, that is a good looking site you have, I am going to look over it in more detail tomorrow.

Benjamin,
Welcome to the board. I checked out your site and I will definitely refer to it in the future. I use Illustrator on a Mac all day at my work. I have Ink on a PC at home and I do manage to get some things accomplished with it, but I find myself lost when I want to perform certain things. Your site will definitely be bookmarked.
As for getting a Cricut, go out and get one. I am not a scrapbooker (yet), but I cut with my Cricut all the time. Mostly vinyl for signs and walls. There are alos lots of other uses for this great machine.
Again welcome and thanks for your generosity!

Great to hear you are going to do some tutorials for cutting. I watched your basic Inkscape videos and learned a lot. Thanks again
