Here are a couple of pictures of a Vinyl Window Sticker I cut for a friend of mine. The total height is only 5 1/2". Even the small letters cut really well.

I just take the easy way out and create those type of cuts in Word using WordArt and then copy/paste. But I'm lazy :)

Christina,
Does it copy and paste into Inkscape as a vector or do you have to autotrace it? Unfortunately, the Mac version of word doesn't have this function so I can't check it out and I am getting this question a lot. Thanks?

No, it doesn't...I copy and paste via the Windows Snipping Tool or if I'm still working on it, I save it in Word as a PDF and open it directly in Inkscape when I've completed the design.

Depends on whether it's a quick thing or something I've spent hours working on.

Where do you get your vinyl for vehicles?

On a MAC the easiest way is to use Adobe PhotoShop Elements. It has WARPED text that can be saved as a jpg and imported into inkscape. A simple trace bitmap works and saved as a .svg file.

It imports into SCAL just fine.

Then you use firstcuts "mesh" technique to pick it up after cutting keeping the integrity of the arch.

If you want to do it in Inkscape I have a simple tutorial on how as do many others on this board. Just search for text circle and you should be fine.

Hope this helps

Susan,
The Mac version of Word will do the arch like PSE, but not the nice circular text like WinWord or Inkscape. Would still like to find an easier Mac solution for people who are put off by Inkscape.

Edited to correct. The Mac version of Word will do the circle text, and you can use print to PDF. Very nice solution for Mac users. See my blog for step by step instructions.

Christine,
OK, when you save the WordArt to PDF and open in Inkscape, is it a vector or do you have to autotrace?

It's already a vector when I import the PDF file, using all the default settings for import.
