Hi,

I just bought SCA last night and I can't stop looking for fonts, dingbats and svg files! I'm feeling so creative now :D

Anyway, I thought I'd share this site with you. I was going to put it in the other thread about svg files, but that one is getting a bit heated.

It's an open source site, so I assume they are free.
http://download.openclipart.org/downloads/

Look in the different folders. The svg files are located in the zip files.

Enjoy!

Theresa

I'm under the impression that if you don't have the font installed on your computer the SVG file will be of no use. Am I wrong?

These are graphic files, not fonts. They are lots of images of school stuff, animals, plants, people, etc. I found a great palm tree with a sun behind it. I was able to import it successfully into SCA and cut it.

Is there a way to view them before downloading them? I don't want to download them all just to see what they are.

Theresa, Thanks for the link! But how do you get them into SCA? Please help!

I clicked on the link and it was a bit confusing to me. I went to the root http://www.openclipart.org/ , signed up and was able to download a zip file that includes 6900 svg graphics. I'm unzipping the file now. WOW! The file is only current as of Oct 2005 so there have been hundreds of files added since then. After playing on the site and with this for hours tonight, if you do this I recommend downloading the whole file (the zip format with PNG - 132 MB) so you have thumbnails you can view of the svg files. Talk about an unlimited supply of graphics!

I also downloaded the Linkscape graphics programs. If we create graphics let's make sure we share to support the community that's helping us as well.

I downloaded all the SVG files, and then drove myself crazy trying to view all of them. Would be very challenging on each new project when trying to locate the perfect SVG from my clipart samples.

I did a little hunting around and trying a few things, and found a neat little Explorer plugin that lets you view your SVG files as thumbnails. The plugin is call Renesis and you can download it from here.

You will need to change your view to include large or extra large icons in order to see a reasonable portion of the SVG images.

Give it a try, and see what you think.

ok, as usual, I cannot open a file I downloaded from this website in SCAL. This has been a problem for me all along - I get an error message. why can't I open anything?
