Order of cutting, scoring lines?

I am totally new to this, as a matter of fact, having gotten my Sizzix Eclips yet, but using the software to learn before I get it. How do you tell the machines the order you want your cuts. I have layers and I have defined cut and score lines. I want my internal cuts, then my scores and finally my external cuts. My score lines are blue, my internal are red, and my external cuts are black. I need HELP!
Thanks in advance!

Hi, my experience with watching the eclips do what you describe is that it does the scores first, then the middle and finally the outside. Just curious but why does it matter which order it does it, so long as you get the result?
If you want to send me or post the file I'll cut it for you and tell you what it did in what order. I'll send you a PM NOW with my email address.

Once you have set the lines to score or cut you can cut it all at once no need to turn layers on or off unless you want to. Just make sure the scoring setting is set under preferences. I found 3 is good. I cut a little gift bag which had score lines on it and was doing the cut first and then scoring but then found it will do it in one action. If you have set all your score layers to score on the drop down appearance box you will be OK. See screen below.

Perfect answer Allie, it did not occur to me that she didn't realize that it is all one action, but since she doesn't have the cutter yet I guess I understand where she is coming from.
Thanks,

I was reading in a cutter book, and it said you should do inside cuts first, maybe after the outside is cut, it is easier to slip on the cut. I don't know which software it was, but something said you could specify by color what to cut first. Just watched the layer video, and guess I could have all internal cuts on a layer, all scores or a layer, and the external cuts on still another layer (rather layer group). Guess I will need to get the Sizzix and play with it to get a better idea. Just trying to familiarize myself with the software. I did notice when you do into the help, there is not a place to type in a keyword for a search, maybe because I have not licensed it yet? Well thanks for the input. I will probably be back with more ?s, LOL!

It is Make the Cut that cuts internal lines and then external lines. It is a nice feature when you want to cut detail and then a fine border around it. If you were to cut the border first, when cutting the internal cuts, the blade might cause the paper to move. But, I have only had this need on a handful of occasions. It is easy to just manually turn on or off the layers as you want them to cut.

Probably need to start with some easier stuff before I try fancy and scoring. Need to crawl before I walk. I am just trying to get a good handle on the software so I will be ready for it. Did purchase a couple cartridges as well.
