I made a couple of new cards with cutout fronts. This first one is for my son, who is an artist.

The second one is for a friend, and I made the popup flowers I saw on this youtube video inside. It's very easy, and I made a cut file for the flowers so it's even easier. I used pink vellum, which looks very delicate, but it's very brittle, so I don't know how it will hold up. In any event, it needs to be thin paper, not cardstock. Next time I would make the flowers bigger to fill the card out more.

Here is the cut file for the flowers. You need seven. Experiment a bit with the size. They look best when they fill the card up, I think.

Thank you so much...I am going to try this. I might see if parchment paper will cut..you know...the kind from the kitchen :)

Did you color the insides of the flowers?

Yes, I colored the inside with a fine-tipped marker. I edited my second post with the link to the youtube video. You'll see how easy it is and she marked the centers of her paper. I also did a little experimenting with making a shaggy center for the flowers out of paper, but didn't have anything dark to cut it with. I think if you used black or a dark purple, it would make the flowers look like field poppies.
Parchment would probably be a good kind of paper to use, or maybe just regular colored printer paper. Just nothing heavy. Oh, and don't put glue anywhere other than the places she shows to put glue.

I got them cut out of the parchment! Only one side seemed to stick some and not much so I taped all the edges down and used really light pressure and low speed...it worked. Now I will watch the video about the centers. Thanks!

I did it!!!!!! Yay!!!
And you were asking about glue before. Well, I mentioned I am out of 'stuff'....actually gave a lot away, now, I'm back crafting and sunk...BUT, I found a glue stick...UHU stic...to be exact...my artist dau got it for me...it saved the day!...Nothing would stick to the parchment, not even the carpet tape...lol.
That video was such fun!

Fantastic! The parchment looks pretty-- almost like tissue paper. I wonder if double-sided tape would work for this?
I was also thinking of putting some leaves on the card base, under the flowers. That will be my next thing to try...
