do you have the bmp file you can post?
I see the red x there too.
I opened inkscape & saw that you can open bmp files, so not sure what is going wrong for you.
if you can post the original bmp file here, I can take a look at it for you.

I downloaded the file and there is no file. You need to TRACE BITMAP in order for it to show. Trace Bitmap per instructions and see what happens and let us know.

load it as a jpg in inkscape & then trace.
you need to read a tutorial on tracing in inkscape. you can't just open the file & save as svg--doesn't work that way, it must first be traced. you can find several tutorials on tracing in inkscape by using the search feature on this board---that question comes up frequently.
that file will be tough to get all the detail in the image part. the text should be easy.

ok i finally understand how to save it in inkscape. this is the file i saved and tried to do on the cricut. it was tiny and some of my letters came off while it was cutting. any suggestions how to make this better or is this not a good project to work with?
you can tell i am new at this . i did one project with welding words and it did beautifully.
