Inkscape update?

Did anyone get an e-mail about an update to inkscape? When I checked it out, this is what the update said: "lib2geom (2Geom in private life) is a library developed for inkscape to provide a robust computational geometry framework. It is not a rendering library, instead concentrating on high level algorithms such as computing arc length. "
I'm sorry but this is greek to me!!! I can't even begin to understand what it says let alone what it means. Do we need this update for the type of things we do in Inkscape?

I am still using .046...does what I need. There was talk about .047 but I am not sure what stage it is in. I don't think it is offered as a stable download yet.
