Please see this thread for discussion of a problem I'm having with SCAL 2.038 and Inkscape layers (that used to work fine, but now don't).

I agree, it would be much better for SCAL to recognize Groups/Layers rather than to put each Path into a separate layer.

Problem with 2.038 and layers.
