A question

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, I looked around but didn't see anything:
I was wondering if anyone would know why the following happens when I cut using SCAL. I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my scal settings: Everytime I use my cricut with SCAL 2 there are several areas that "crumble" up with the cut. I've change the setting, pressure, changed to a new blade and still get the paper mess up. When I place the pressure on light or medium I still get the paper pushed up and then I also have problems with it not cutting through all of the design. I don't believe it's my cricut machine itself because it cuts fine when I use a cartridge. I tried resetting to factory defaults on SCAL 2 but none of my settings change and if I uninstall and reinstall everything including my info (SN) are still intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
