I love this gingerbread house and am making it. Only one problem when I cut the red and green circle shapes my paper tears up. Any suggestions. Thanks toni
Hi Toni - I have a few ideas for you to try. When I first started using my Cricut there was a piece of fuzz in with the blade and I had the same problem. I took the blade out of the housing and took out the fuzz and it was fine.

Is your blade new? If not you may need to change that.
Also just read on another message board that someone had the tip of the blade that chipped off so they had to replace it.

Not sure if you are new to this whole Cricut experience but my biggest challenge when I first started was getting the settings to work with the weight of the paper you are cutting. Once I got those figured out the cuts turned out better. Hope that helps a bit!

Ty yes I am still a newbie. I had the cricut create for 6 months and just got the expression as an early Christmas present. And I know I haven't got settings down right yet so that is probably the problem but I will also check the blade. ty very much, Toni

Hi - Need some help - someone downloaded these files from my blog and can not cut in SCAL 2 (I am on a Mac and these were created in SCAL 1).
I recommended that she download the SVGs and import those into SCAL as opposed to trying to open the SCUTs in SCAL. Do you agree or have any other advice?

Here is the email I recd:

"I found your blog the other day and totally fell in love with your gingerbread house gift box. the only problem is that I cant get either of the files to work on my SCAL 2.0. Do you have and recommendations on how I can get it to work for me. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Is there a way I could make it work thru inkscape, I'm kind of getting familiar with how to use that program."

Thanks! Amy

You have to import svgs in SCAL 2 as well.. you can't open them because you will either get a freezing or a blank page.. SVGS are always imported... SCAL files are always opened... I imported it to SCAL2 and had no problem at all...

I downloaded the SVGs and opened/imported them fine in Win SCAL 2.0. We put the shingles on ours last night. Now we need to cut the door and other embellishments.

I made one, I really like it. Sorry for the quality of the picture, I just used photobooth instead of a camera. You can't see the top of the roof, but I added a row of icicles in white (drippygoo file from forum)
I have it saved on my mac side and am on my windows side of laptop right now so here is my link in facebook.

i am not sure why, but when I cut this out and made it the white hardly shows at the top where the icicles are.
