I had a thought on this....but not sure how to do it. Like, in Inkscape, can I make these like 'blackout' images? If you could do that, they would be super easy to cut. Then for the holes where you will join with a brad, pull out a punch or crop a dile. What do you think??? If someone can direct me toward a tutorial or something on how to make an image blacked out in Inkscape, I don't mind doing it. I just have to learn as I go. Sorry I am not being of more help.

Hehehe...It must be the name, 'cause great minds think alike! That's exactly what I was working on in ink right now, just thought I'd pop in and make sure no one had beat me to the punch! LOL

I don't know how to black out an image in Inkscape. I use Adobe Illustrator as my svg creation program. If I need something blacked out, I import the SVG into SCAL and turn on the blackout option.

You would just treat them like any other paper piecing. Trace the images, Path/Break apart, move the black background away so you can work with the rest of the pieces. I do see a few places where the lines are broken and will need to be connected before they will break apart.

Here is the first (or rather the last from the website) of the sets. I connected some, but not all, of the bones together. I don't know if you are using SCAL1 or SCAL2, but I grouped the black piece for importing as a layer into SCAL2.

Ok, here is the zip file. It has all four "sets of pieces. Each piece (ie. ribcage, arm, leg) has two pieces, a top layer to cut in black and a bottom blackout layer in white. I haven't tried to cut it yet, but I don't think there should be any problems.

I knew Amy would rock it for us! She is the greatest!!! Thanks Amy!!!!! So glad we got this one! This will make the cutest Halloween decrorations!!! If anyone makes one, post it for us. I thought about making one to go up somewhere. I could not put it outside since it would be made of paper. But I think one hanging on a door inside would be cute. These would be cute in a classroom too!!!

Yes adorable decoration!..as for hanging outside, you could "laminate" the pieces once they are adhered togther, but before you attach them together with the brads, with clear contact paper. I've done this before and it works great as long as you make sure that you leave at least a 1/4" border of the contact paper around the piece when trimming so that it creates a seal to protect the paper.
