Just because it is new doesn't mean that the blade is good. The blade that came with my machine was no good. I was about to return the machine when I tried a new blade and it worked. I wonder if the Roland blades are better quality?

I hve the same problem- when I use scal it doesn't seem to cut as well, or as "deep" like it just doesn't go all the way thru cardstock. works fine on paper, just not thicker paper. So I use the new deep cut blade housing (it is blue instead of the green one that comes with the machine) and that seems to work on cardstock. I set it to the highest setting (6) and then max pressure, med speed, and it cuts thru the cardstock fine then. use the deep cut blade too. hth.

My cricut was new, I had only cut one or two things with it, and it wasn't cutting well right out of the box...cleaned up the blade and it cut perfect!

try resetting the cricut (its in your manual or you can google it) it's the advice i give to all cricut problems.. it works every time!
