Hope you don't mind if I add my two cents worth. I've been using the same two mats for months. First I wash it with dish soap and warm water. It helps to remove all the paper lint and fuzzies. Make sure it's completely dry. If your matt is relatively new, this alone will help restore the stickiness. If not, after I wash and dry, I tape the edges and spray with June Tailors Quilter's basting spray and let that dry overnight. I don't have a brayer, but I do use a wallpaper seam roller.

pastda3, You can use baby wipes to clean the mats - no dry time.

I use the Zig Glue Sticks also, however, I tend to add a little to each corner of the actual cardstock and a little to the centre of it, before I stick the cardstock to the mat. This way my card doesn't move, especially for those intricate cuts.

lisa,
I would assume it is the same one. The only other zip 2 way pen i know of is a dual tip one, it has a fine tip on one end and bullet tip one the other end. The one you want is a chisel tip type end. Think dry erase marker only a little wider.

Here is a great tutorial on making your mat sticky again.
I was not able to find the big tip like she has at my local Wal-mart but I think the key is to find the ZIG 2 way glue. It took me longer with a small chisel tip but it worked just the same!

whimpysue wrote:when your mat looses its stickiness, get a broad tip 2 way zig glue pen/marker. All you do is apply the glue to the mat and let dry. It becomes repositionable and almost like new. (there is a youtube video to show you how, just search for cricut mats). i clean mine with a baby wipe and let dry before i glue.

I feel the adhesion after using the zig is much better than the original tac on the mat. I put the zig glue on my mat last week and have done tons of cuts since then and it is still holding things good. Great way to use a mat longer.

I use Xryon's hand-held glue runner. I clean off the mat with a babywipe, then run the glue runner on the mat. I place a paper I don't care about (or even printer paper) on the mat before cutting to help absorb some of the stickiness before using it.
