reistalled everyything an followed the online tutorials for instlling scal and cricut correctly, i put a plain sheet of paper in to check if it was working and it did, then i tried with vinyl which i have been using ery other time with no success and it shuts down again!

Is there a setting for sheets thicker than plain paper? could this be stopping me from geting further than a few seconds of cutting??

thanks

amanda

ps will give the paper another go see if it works or not!

What are your blade and pressure setting when you try to run vinyl? Vinyl isn't that thick. I cut vinyl all the time.

OMG, this is the exact same problem that was plaguing me a while ago. I tried everything and basically gave up. I even bought Make The Cut which worked for a short while. The thing is, since I had a new laptop (windows 7) I can cut anything with Sure Cuts A Lot and nothing with Make The Cut!!! Bizarre or what!!!

Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you but I would still love to know what it was that was causing the problem in the first place.

Have you tried changing USB cords...that connects to the computer and the Cricut? Or making sure it is plugged in firmly to both the cricut and the computer.

haven't tried anything other than software updates reinstalls, etc

The vinyl is fairly thin, suppose just clutching at straws now the blade is set to 5 and th ressure is set to medium speed set to medium.

Is there something i could be over looking or is this just a bug?

I want to find out if it's a software problem(or not) before i start looking down other avenues and spending money on new leads etc.

Getting really frustrated now!! but vry grateful for any advice :)

thanks

What happens if you don't load a mat? Move your blade up to 1 and the pressure up to 1 and try a dry run. You still have to hit the load mat button.
