Tutorial AI Tracing

Does anyone know of a tutorial that will teach me to use Adobe Illustrator to trace and convert dingbat fonts for use with SCAL??? I am new and completely ignorant of how AI works. I bought the Adobe CS3 and really think I should use it since I paid for it
