Cricut shuts down after 2 seconds of cutting

Hi,

I am new to this and have been searching these forums since yesterday and trying numerous thing which don't seem to work.

I have a cricut create and scal2 (purchased) so i go into scal create what i want to cut and click onn cut, select my cricut and firmware (which i have current version of done yesterday)

The cricut sets off, cuts for a few seconds and then shuts down automatically then straight back on.

Any ideas?

Does it stop when you are using a Cart, or does it finish cutting?

It cuts the cart images just not the SCAL ones, any clues?

Are you trying to cut an imported SVG file? Will it cut one of the shapes from the SCAL Shape Library? What Version of SCAL are you using?

If you have the standard cartridge that came with your machine, try cutting with the Design Studio trial.

I am using SCAL 2 and just cutting out a name,

Haven't tried to cut anything else (shapes etc) just typed the name then selected it all and used the fonts that are on the SCAL program on the right - nothing imported, haven't got that far yet - it's driving me crazy!!!

Tried to cut with design studio and when i click cut a dialogue biox pops up and then goes off the screen quicker than i can read it (so don't know what it says!)

I too am having problems with cutting out a file, both in Cricut Design Studio and SCAL2. I have downloaded the SCAL2 software, reinstalled Cricut Design Studio and supposably install the new firmware, and I am not able to cut. Now I have purchased a new laptop using Windows 7 which should not be a problem. I did not have the problem with my old laptop using Windows XP (but that laptop is now in Fort Riley, Kansas to be my granddaughters for a b-day gift). I, too am very frustrating as I have 2 b-day cards and Christmas cards to make. My Cricut Personal machine is at least 4 yeas old...do I need to upgrade the machine!? Also, when attempting to print from Cricut Design Studio, I have a error box come flashing up, so quickly, that I cannot read it.

Also when I downloaded the drivers, what file should be installed into? Thank you.
