Cricut Cake Machine

Post by talanhart »

Cricut is releasing a Cake Machine. I downloaded the PDF file to see what it does, but it wouldn't open for me. Interesting.

I want to look at the video, but my browser keeps closing. I have to wait until I get home.

It appears to be just a new cartridge. I was able to access the pdf and it's the handbook for the cartridge. It's also making a plug for the Gypsy. Nice cart but nothing SCAL can't handle. ;)

It looks like it is basically an Expression with some crumb guards, the center rollers removed, and a slightly different blade holder. People have been cutting gum paste on their regular Cricuts for quite a while now.

So I watched the youtube video with Sugar Veil and OMG!!!! How cool is that! I'm not real sure about running it through the cricut though. I would be worried about it the blade mechanisms getting sticky. Has anyone here tried Sugar Veil? I wonder if you could cut a stencil with freezer paper and wipe it across the stencil but lift the stencil before it completely dries? HMMM... food for thought! No pun intended!

The blade mechanism shouldn't get sticky.. She states to let the fondant dry out a bit.. The sugar veil product she used dries out enough that you can pick it up and cut it like paper.. Very very neat.. The same would be for fondant as fondant is a bit dry to the touch as well.. or if you are worried.. Put wax paper over the fondant layer..
As for the idea of the new cake machine having no middle rubber grips I do that when I work with the foam cutting.. I push those grips off to he side because if you don't they leave track marks on it... My little grandbaby has her second b'day coming up and I'm thinking of purchasing this sugar veil for my machine to do her a tinkerbell cake... To do the details on the tinkerbell you use edible markers to color the pieces..
