I keep getting the message 'USB device has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognise it' when I try to connect my cricut to my computer. This has happened since installing SCAL V2. Have also tried removing Design Studio and reinstalling it. It seemed to solve it for a while then I got the same message again.
Anyone else have the same problem?

Do you mean the Design Studio download? Have done this about 6 times but the problem keeps coming back.

I think she is refering to your drivers, not your DS software. Sometimes the drivers for some reason or other gets corrupted and no long work properly. Drivers are a software that you download to cause your computer to recognize accessories like printer, Scanner, Cricut. Camera etc.

Go here and look to bottom of page where it talks about drivers. If this is still makes you uneasy. Contact customer service from th is site and tell them what's going on. I have never had this problem so What I would do is grab my husband at lunch and make him do it. LOL

Tried reloading drivers, but no change. Swapped over USB cable with printer and seems Ok now. Keeping my fingers crossed that's all the problem was. Thank you for your help.

Try the reset that GrammyKrausse posted here. http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... 56&p=33645
If that doesn't work, and your Cricut is still under warranty, you will need to contact Provo Craft since it sounds like a machine issue. DO NOT tell them that you have SCAL!
