Repeated cutting of the same image.

Post by mlamaac2 »

I have great luck in converting files to svg to use in with my SCAL software. I have had one problem though and not sure the cause or how to correct. Some of the images/shapes are cutting repeatedly .....over and over again before moving on. Has anyone else had that happen to them. It is terribly hard on the sticky mat and tends to leave the edges jagged by the time it is done.

Thanks for any help or advise.

Best guess is that you have either multiple images stacked on top of each other, or you have double lines from tracing line art. Look at them in outline mode in Inkscape. Check the areas that cut multiple times. Look for either two lines close together, or a line that looks just a little bit heavier or darker than the others. You can also try selecting one of the sections that cuts multiple times and either delete it, or move it to the side to see if there is another image beneath it. The preview mode in SCAL shows red lines where lines will cut an odd number of times, and gray where they will cut an even number (or 0) of times. HTH

I have a video tutorial explaining what heather is talking about line art getting the double cut lines and how to fix them in Inkscape.

So hopefully it helps.
