I want to cut out a whole page full of shamrocks. I picked one, pressed the fit page button for an 8.5 X 11 piece of paper and it only cuts one. I want the whole page. I want to get as many shamrocks out of 1 piece of 8.5 x 11 as possible. With my Cricut, it determines how many I can get from the size of the paper on the mat. The user guide gives directions on how to get "replicated" cuts using the whole sheet of paper and you don't have to cut and paste to get multiple cuts but it's not working. I'm still working on it to figure this out.

OK so how big is the page set to - 8.5 X 11?

how big is the shamrock?

try this. set the mat to 12X12
open the library and double click the cog in the shapes (it should come in at 1X1 inch)
now move it over to the top left
then select it and go edit copy
then edit paste
it should now fill the page with 100 cogs (10X10)

you would do the same with the shamrock but if it is too big and only one will fit on the page it won't work.

I tried it and I only get 1 at a time, not filling the whole page. And I don't have a cog?? Unless I'm in the wrong section of the library? I don't see shapes?? I have the images that I purchased through the store and the 51 images my Cameo came with. I just chose the button (seemed easy enough to use), followed your steps but I just keep getting 1 image at a time. This is a b***h. I was so excited to get this machine because I could use SCAL with it too but the more I try, the more frustrated I get. The User Guide isn't very clear either. I'm not giving up as I'm sure it's just my learning curve, but I didn't have this much trouble with Cricut and SCAL. Giving up for the night.............tomorrow is another day! As Scarlett would say! Thanks for your help.........it must just be me

Hi, if you are OK with all the shamrocks the same then I'd use Object/Duplicate function in SCAL3/eCAL. I don't remember whether the function is in later vs of SCAL2.

See this video for how...except that you'd have more columns and rows than making a border. You can bring in your own jpg/png or sag shamrock...you don't have to use the ones in the SCAL library.

Good Luck

the cog is under window>library and then shapes tab and basic shapes

it's a grey cog but any shape would work, so long as it's 1X1 inch.

after you get that working, then you can use bigger sizes but it will, of course, result in fewer shapes on the mat

to be honest, the cricut is a "click and cut" machine - bit like a click and print cd. the cameo is a little more involved but not much harder once everything "clicks"

what version of scal are you using?

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted you all to know that after watching a couple of videos on YouTube (love that site), I think I've finally figured out how to cut multiple cuts (with the Silhouette they are called replicates for those like myself who are newbies to this machine) of an image. After putting my image on the mat and choosing the proper paper and mat size (in this case 8.5 x 11),and after moving the image to the corner of the mat, I clicked on it, then clicked on the replicate button and clicked on "fill page". The whole page filled with shamrocks!! I got 15 shamrocks on 1 8.5 x 11 piece of cardstock!!! I'm so proud of myself  They are 2 inches in size and a bit smaller than I wanted but I can use them for something else. I have to get to the craft store this week to get more cardstock but this is a start and I hope this helps others who were having the same problem.
I do have another question though  Is there a site or someplace on the boards that tell you what the Silhouette can cut?? I was wondering if the blade would cut thin cardboard like a cereal box or thin posterboard?? I saw a small list on SilhouetteAmerica.com but cardboard/posterboard isn't listed.
Thank you to you all for your help! I really appreciate it. I feel really "rusty" in my skills getting back into using cutting machines, and SCAL and especially Inkscape but when I think of all the cool things I can create my mind starts getting flooded with ideas! I just need to stay away from the online store!
Have a great day!

Not a problem Gaz.....it all worked out in the end :D BUT I still cannot find the cog you're talking about!! I have looked in both libraries and I don't have a cog unless it's named something else. No big deal, I don't think I'll be multi cutting cogs any time soon  Thanks again for your help!

then open the shapes the cog is the grey shape 2nd in on the 2nd row but it will change depending on the size of that window.
