SCAL2 on eBay

I have moved on from all PC products, but have had a couple people ask me about buying SCAL2 on eBay to use with their Expression.

There are MANY auctions up now for SCAL2 - but they look suspicious to me.

They are from more than one seller, but they say the same thing:

this disk contains all the stuff needed to install scal 2
*NOTE THIS IS A COPY THE SOFTWARE GENERATES A KEY SO YOU DONT HAVE TO REGISTER THE PRODUCT

I just want you to understand that what you are about to purchase is FULL version of the sure cuts alot 2 software. It has never been installed it is a copy It comes with a key code generator allowing you to download your software to multiple computers

and at the bottom...

Payment is to be made using PayPal. Since this is software, there will be no returns allowed. This software is discontinued. This is the downloaded version that will be burnt to CD with everything you need to get started. A few minutes of setting up is required.

I don't recommend that they purchase this - but someone said they did and it works. Seems like something is not right with it though.

Any copy of SCAL sold with a key generator is a hacked copy and isn't a legal version. Software is a license (you don't "own" the software, just the right to use it) and isn't transferable, so even if someone had a legal copy that they purchased and never used they can't legally sell it to someone else to use.

That's what I thought - but how can they get away with selling this on eBay? And so many of them?

Good question. Quite some time back I sent a message to one person selling SCAL2 to inform the the product they were selling was not transferable. Also sent a message on to "eBay" with the same info, but I doubt they really monitor it unless it becomes a big enough issue for them.

I have a friend who has a disc version with a key. She hasn't been able to successfully install this program and has thought about selling her copy on E-bay. Do you think she would have a problem trying to sell her copy legally?
