and details on how to make piecings on the mat to make cuts bigger. For example, if I want to make a vinyl cut out of a palm tree for my wall 3 times the size of my 12x24" mat. I have seen people do this but when I attempt it, my image doesn't stretch that far and it cuts it off...I hope I'm being clear on what I'm trying to say. I just need to know step by step please! TIA! =)

I made a sign for a motorycle shop and I had to do some of the letters in pieces. I laid out my artboard in Illustrator full size and scaled the letters full size. For the letters that I had to do in pieces, I cut them using the knife tool and moved them off to the side or made a separate artwork. Once I had all my letters separated into their own files, I wrote down all the measurements so that I could scale them correctly in SCAL 1. If you want to send me the SVG file, I can break it down for you.

Wow Todd, I think you lost me when you started talking about Illustrator...lol. Does that program HAVE to be used or is there another way of scaling/breaking it down? And I appreciate you offering to break down a project for me! But I just wanted to know this for future reference, when I decide to do my basement walls, and when/if someone requests a project that large. Thanks for all your help Todd! I appreciate it! =D

Can someone make a large palm tree for me :) I was thinking that the base would be about 24 inches high.
