Layers vs Pages

Hi gang. Am loving all the updates to SCAL2. My question is about layers vs pages - when would I use one versus the other? Are they 2 different ways of accomplishing the same thing? Are layers better for aligning things? Does it have anything to do with importing SVGs with multiple layers?
Thanks for the info.

Sharon,
If you import an SVG with multiple layers, or with multiple groups, SCAL2 will separate the layers or groups out into separate layers on the same page.
Since SCAL2 gives you onionskin visibility of both pages and layers within a document it is extremely flexible as to how you want to use layers or pages. Personal preference, really.

This is how I use the two.
When I design a box, I have the score lines on a separate layer on the same page. That way they can be cut separately, but together (if that makes sense). Obviously they are on the same page, but separate layers.
Also, If I size the box so I have more than one on a sheet to cut, I put them on the same page but separate layers so I can turn them on or off, at will.
However, I if I make several versions of a box (same design, but one rectangular, one square, one tall, etc), I put them on separate pages in the same file, so they are grouped together. That way I have totes in one file, flap boxes in another, etc.
