ok- i actually made a sunshine like i want. used INK - drew a circle - used bezier tool and drew rays. selected all - combined - and two rays combined and the rest did not. WHAT HAPPENED.?
I don't know how to save a pic and put here. the doc extension would not work.

I'm not sure what happened in Ink. My solution was to unfill all the artwork, draw a slightly larger circle and add to the shape area and expand.

You used Path/Combine instead of Path/Union. Path/Combine just makes everything into one object, it leaves all of the nodes/cutlines there. Path/Combine can be undone at any point, since nothing is lost/removed.

Path/Union is like welding, only it's permanent since it removes nodes/cutlines and can't be undone after you close the file. HTH

Heather - that ans. a million and one questions. THANK YOU. i always wondered what the diff. was and also is that why once you do Path/Union and save - then u can't go back and change it since the nodes were removed? hmm cool

Yep. That's why I tend to keep a "parts" version of a file and a "cut" version. The "parts" version doesn't have anything unioned together, the "cut" version has a union done as a final step in preparation for SCAL.
