I hope someone can help me. I just purchased a Cricut Expression, Scal 2.0 (waiting for key code) and downloaded Inkscape. I would now like to figure out how to print the following items, Cupcake Wrappers for Weddings and Engagements, found on the below link:
http://www.iloveknk.com/2009/05/more-cupcake-wrappers/
The format for the wrappers is a knk not an svg. How do I convert this item to an svg and then use my Scal and Cricut to print them? I really hope someone can help me as I have no idea what I am doing and I would like to make these for my SIL wedding.
Thank you.

Re: Newbie question re: creating SVG files
If you go to the top right corner of the forum and do a search for "cupcake wrapper" there are tons of helpful tips and even some files that you may just be able to download. here's the search results: http://forums.surecutsalot.com/search.p ... mit=Search
Now, as far as figuring out inkscape, you can just play with combining a bunch of images together on a curve so that you can make your own. Make sure not to go TOO detailed or the machine will grab and move it--therefore not creating a smooth (or even cut out piece).
Import your images, move them around to where you want them, select all, and then go to "Path -> Combine" if you want to see how it will look when you cut, go to "View -> Display Mode -> Outline". If there's something you don't like just go back to "Path" and "Break Apart" the image. If you "Union" something, it may take away a critical line you need.

If you go to youtube and type in Scrappydew tutorials they will help teach you about inkscape... If you also look at the bottom of the homepage here at Craftedge you will see an inkscape tutorial as well.. This is how I learned... and I've only been an inkscape user since May..lol
