Shadow Trouble

I have been working on a layout using Beach Type and every time I try and use the letter R in the shadow mode it folds or cuts it in half at an angle. If anybody has a solution for my problem I would greatly appreciate some help so I can finish my project.

That usually happens in the trial mode of SCAL. But really don't know if it just happens on the shadow of the R. Unsure

I also had trouble with the shadow feature....trying to shadow a baseball and all I got was the top half of the baseball!!! Any suggestions?
