Can anyone point me in the direction of a post on how to weld a shape in a shape? What i'm trying to do is make a card (rectangle) and use a shape as a window. When i preview, either one or the other shows, not both welded together..
...and i need help with the yellow box to, I don't know what that is or how it works.

maybe I've not understood what you want to do but if you are making a window why would it need to be welded to something?

Susibi, that is what my DH said when i told him what i wanted to do. I guess i wasn't thinking laterally, I was making it harder than i needed it to be

I got the card made, and i'm hopefully going to post it in the other forum later. Thanks for replying.

I have included the link to welding inside a shape. If you want the window in the card, I would make the squares as directed and then use the arrows to make the larger square a rectangle. You can also move the smaller square anywhere in the larger square before you use the Path>Exclusion to weld them together.

Can we do this just using SCAL? I tried, but it doesn't seem to work ... wondering if I'm missing something or just need to use Inkscape. Could be something to put in the wish list though!

the frame is made in Inkscape
- if you put two shapes one inside the other in SCAL they should cut as a frame.

If you want to just make a frame, you can do that in SCAL. Make two nested squares and cut. If you want to weld a shape inside another shape like we did in DSS (I don't know if that is what u you want...just throwing it out) then you will have to use Inkscape.
It is not very had but you have to follow the instructions and then once you get it, you will be able to weld anything.

I did it in SCAL once by using a simple square frame and adding # 2 inside...I found the frame somewhere online as a freebie!

Sorry Alli, I just saw this and remembered that I hadn't replied to you about it. I tried several different things that night and again next day and couldn't get it to work.
Did you say you worked it out? ..... and did you find out what the yellow box was all about? That had me bamboozled.
