Is this possible? I found a website/blog called Elegant Word Art by Bethany. There is alot of cool wordart to download but I noticed (before I downloaded) that they are png files. I don't know if they all are, just the ones I picked were.....figures! But can these be converted into svg files soI can cut them with my cricut and is it done in inkscape easily!? Just one more ? Is there a tutorial for this?
TIA

Re: Converting png files to svg files
Hi
The answer is yes. The paint bucket method in inskscape does work. I did a test and it worked well. although some of the ones with the text with a worn away look might be a little difficult to cut
Have a look at Kay's sight for some excellent tutorials on the paint bucket method.

make sure you look at both parts
and here is a mini tutorial she has put together

Hope that helps

Re: Converting png files to svg files
Most of the files I saw were black and white png files. Those would be pretty easy to trace in Inkscape. Open or import the file into Ink, then with the image selected, Path/Trace bitmap. Black and white images should work well with the default settings, so click OK. You now should have two of the word art in your file, one image and one path. You can either delete the image or leave it there. There is a tut here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50KplQAcU64

Re: Converting png files to svg files
Bethany's was the first site I ever featured from my blog! You can trace, but the great thing is, she tells usually you the fonts, so the easiest thing for cutting is to just reproduce them with type. That way you get a clean vector and no quality loss. When there is a font that won't cut (like a grunge one) you can substitue something that will.
In the future, I do have a guide to tutorials, so you know which one to use
