i know this must have been asked before but i've searched and can't find the answer. the requirements for SCAL state that you need version 2.1 for the expression machine--i've done all the updates from PC and when i start cds the version comes up as 1.0.20211.0, not 2.1. do i have the version i need to install and use SCAL? thanks for your help

I have the same question. I want to buy SCAL so bad but I don't want to buy if it might not work. I have asked this question here on the cricut board and even to Todd and I can't seem to get a straight answer.

the 2.1 is the firmware version for the machine. It has nothing to do with the Design Studio software. If you have installed DSS and upgraded your firmware you will see that you Expression shows 2.1 as the firmware.

I noticed you have done all the software upgrades for DSS. If you have problems with the SCAL software, it is because of the upgrades. I had to uninstall my update and go to the original software and it cuts just fine.

Since I had to make a choice of SCAL and DSS, I chose SCAL...does a lot more.

well d'oh! i didn't look on the machine, yes mine says 2.1 when i fire it up.

Mine says 2.1.1 - does that mean I did the update? I haven't been having trouble cutting with SCAL, but I do have a bit of trouble welding. Do you think that extra .1 is the newer version.
