paper snagging

Hello!
Maybe someone can help me. I made one cut and it went beautiful. The next words I cut using the same type of paper, my CE kept snagging on the paper and tore some to the letters. It was doing this before and I thought I may need to change the blade. I changed it and it is still doing the same things. What am I doing wrong?

Could it possibly be that your paper is not gripping onto your mat in some places or the mat has lost some stickiness in some areas...I know I`ve experienced this problem...

I thought that maybe the cause so I used a brand new mat. The first cut was fine. The second time I used the mat it tore and snagged the letters. How do you know what pressure, cut speed, and blade depth to put it on?

it has to do with the pressure and all that which I have not worked out yet so I would love to hear what the experts say as well

also check to make sure the blade isn`t dirty...

Generally paper snagging is caused by two things
1. a dirty blade - pop the blade out and make sure there's no paper stuck around it
2. too much pressure - I find this happens if I have been cutting cardstock and I start cutting paper without changing the blade setting

I have found that thinner paper seems to snag more than the thicker paper. In addition to the recommendations made above, I have found that reducing the cut speed helps too. When the paper is thinner, it's really important that it has good adhesion to the mat or it will catch a loose spot and rip! To this day, I still get some cuts that snag or rip. :(

I switched to a 60 degree blade and get much, much better cuts.

Hi Lindamac, where do you get the 60 degree blades?
Thanks

I just bought some in an Ebay auction for a really good price. Can't tell you how they cut since they are currently in the mail. They aren't in the craft sections, search in Ebay for "Roland blade".
